Guru Purnima – July 4, 2012

On Purnima, “Satyanarayan Vrath Katha” is performed. Among the kathas that are prevalent, “Shri Satyanarayan Katha” is the most popular. Satyanarayan Vrat is the easiest and the most in-expensive way of self-purification and self -surrender at the feet of Hari. One who observes Purnima with full devotion and faith is sure to attain his heart’s desire. Our Shastras state that during hte “kalyug” , the fruit that one gets by hearing hte Satyanarayan Katha is enormous . The Katha is dedcated to Lord Vishnu in his manifestation as Lord Satyanarayan . “Satya” means truth , “Nar” means Man and “Ayan” means a place .Thus the place where truth resides in man is call Satyanarayan. The “Satyanarayan Katha” and the “Vrat” helps us overcome vices like lust , anger, greed , attachments and ego.

Puja commences at 7:00 p.m.
